The crunchy, composed of caramelized sugar and almonds, finds in its variant with hazelnuts a full flavor and a marked crunchiness. The crunchy is mentioned in a Spanish text from the second half of the fifteenth century and this could lead one to think that its birth took place in Spain. However, many argue that this typical dessert has Italian origins, born around the 1200s in southern Italy as a derivation of an Arab dessert, made with almonds, honey, sugar and spices. Our hazelnuts are IGP hazelnuts from the Langhe, considered the best in the world, they give an unmistakable aroma and scent.
